Glad you’re here! I’m the founder and jack-of-all-things at Upstate Safe & Snug. I grew up in rural Upstate NY and have been caring for pets for over 10 years. After living on the West Coast for a long while, I returned Upstate in 2021 and my pet-sitting clientele has quickly grown ever since. It has been so rewarding for me to provide loving, reliable care for the pets in my community, so Upstate Safe & Snug was born in 2025! I know how important it is to have a dependable, loving person there for your pets when you’re away. For some pets, boarding isn’t an option or folks prefer to skip the stress of organizing it all. I opened Upstate Safe & Snug as an in-home option for pets who prefer to stay in the comfort of their own home, follow their routines, and spend time with a loving person when their parents are away.

I’ve been an animal lover my entire life, which has taken me everywhere from work on an orangutan rescue in the jungle of Borneo to living on a goat farm in New England. And, of course, I am lucky to have been caring for pets of all kinds for over 10 years as a short and long-term sitter. To this day it’s not unlikely to find me catching a snake on a hike, stewarding injured wildlife to aid, or picking up a shift at my friend’s doggy daycare.

Currently I have a cheeky little grey tabby named Olive who I rescued from Oakland, CA in 2020. Olive has reached millions of people on Instagram - if you want, you can follow her @olive.thesmol!

  • Hannah has been walking with my sheltie/cattle dog mix, Joon, for the past few years. Due to my dog's high energy and anxiety needs, Joon requires understanding and awareness from handlers. Hannah is patient and understanding of my dogs needs, while enjoying Joon's quirks. I recommend Hannah not only for her mindful care, but for her ease and willing-to-work-with-you attitude!
